The document, was finally approved by Congress on July 4, 1776.This document had such an impacting effect because it was such a new way of bringing up concerns.It was the first of its kind in the history of America in the aspect of liberation of a group of people.He was asked by Congress to construct a summary of his views.The Continental Congress was not democratically elected.His father Peter was a mediocre landowner, although not the wealthiest of the planters.Later on in his life, Thomas Jefferson studied law at the College of William and Mary.Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743, at Shadwell, which is currently Albemarle County Virginia.His mother Jane belonged to one of the first families to reside in Virginia.Cut and occasionally altered by Adams, or Franklin, or the Congress itself, the Declaration is almost completely Jefferson's, and is the triumph and culmination of his early career.At this time, had he wanted to be a political leader, he could have easily attained a position in government.
