The contest is open to young people in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean and children in military families serving abroad. Students can also contact their school’s Journalism and Language Arts and Journalism teachers, as well as their Principal’s office for information about the Essay Contest.

Essays may encompass a student’s personal experiences, their hopes for the future, or a more historical perspective.

In addition to developing skills for written expression, and the opportunity to win a scholarship, students’ participation in our Essay Contest can also be a positive accomplishment to include in their applications for college enrollment and other scholarships.
